OrbitProtect Ltd. Trampoline Scholarship
Christchurch School of
Gymnastics (CSG) is delighted to announce that with the support of OrbitProtect
Ltd a Junior Development Trampoline Gymnastics Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded at the 2015 pirze giving to Olympia Hodgson.
Letters of Intent Signing
On Monday 16th Christchurch School of Gymnastics came
together to celebrate two of their senior gymnasts Charlotte Sullivan and
Courtney McGregor signing their National Letters Of Intent.
Both gymnasts were verbally committed to their respective
colleges earlier this year, and the signing of the letters now mean that they
and the colleges are both bound.
In 2012 a team of NZL juniors including Charlotte and Courtney,
from the club attended a pre competition training camp in Salt Lake City, while
there they were taken to the University of Utah and saw firsthand what being a
college gymnast means and were inspired. Four years on they will be a US
college gymnast themselves.
The scholarships are a testament to their hard work over the years and to the
level that they have reached. Approx 3 scholarships per school are given out
each year and there are approx 150 colleges, each college has over 100
applicants so for our club to get two is a testament to the world class
programme being offered at QEII.
The scholarships are a full ride which means for four years all
tuition, accommodation and living expenses are paid for, total cost between
$250,000 and $1m each depending on the school– a definite reward for the hours
of hard work and sacrifice by the family and the gymnasts.
The college competition year runs from January to April so both
gymnasts will be available to continue to represent New Zealand in their chosen
sport as the majority of international competitions are outside of these
These are the first scholarships awarded to gymnasts from
Christchurch and is testament to the world class programme being run by the
club at QEII Park.
Courtney McGregor will attend Boise University and Charlotte
Sullivan the University of Iowa. Both scholarships start in mid 2016.
